Vox · My Transcriber is a single-file web app that runs entirely in your browser. There is no Vox server, no Vox database, and no Vox account. We — the people who built Vox — have no way to access your data, because it never passes through anything we operate.
Everything you create in Vox — recordings (while processing), transcriptions, notes, tags, folders, and your settings — is stored locally in your browser's storage (localStorage) on your own device. It is not synced to any cloud service we control. If you clear your browser data, or switch devices, that data is gone unless you export a backup yourself (Vox has a built-in export feature for exactly this reason).
To transcribe audio or run AI features (summaries, lenses, recipes), Vox needs to talk to a speech-to-text or language model provider. You choose and configure that provider yourself — for example OpenAI, Groq, xAI (Grok), AssemblyAI, Gladia, or a local Whisper server running on your own computer.
Vox includes a feature to send a note from one device to another via QR code or link. The content is encoded directly into the link itself — it is never uploaded to a server. If you add a password, the content is encrypted in your browser before being encoded. Only someone with the link (and password, if set) can read it.
Vox does not use analytics, tracking pixels, or cookies to monitor your usage. We don't know how many times you've opened the app, what you've transcribed, or what you've searched for.
If you purchase a Pro license, that transaction is handled entirely by our payment provider, which acts as the merchant of record and processes your payment under its own privacy policy. We receive confirmation that a purchase was made, but we do not see or store your payment details (card numbers, billing address, etc.).
Vox is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children, consistent with the fact that we do not collect information from anyone.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Since Vox has no accounts or email list by default, we recommend checking back periodically if this matters to you.
